Position Summary

Directs and coordinates all lending and collection activities within the Credit Union, ensuring compliance with Credit Union lending and collection policies and regulations. Plans, directs, and coordinates the development of lending and collection policies, procedures, goals, and objectives. Directs lending and collection activity to meet Credit Union goals and objectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Directs and monitors lending and collection operations for the Credit Union through subordinate managers/supervisors. Establishes annual goals related to lending and collection programs. Monitors progress and ensures Credit Union goals and objectives are achieved.

Chairs various Loan Committees. Arranges for loan applications to be presented to Loan Committee. Provides overview and recommendations to the committee. Serves on the Asset/Liability Committee and other committees as assigned.

Directs and oversees preparation of periodic financial, lending, collections, and operations reports for management. Ensures accuracy and completeness of information. Analyzes loan data reports for corrective actions.

Develops, proposes, gains acceptance for, and implements lending and collections strategy. Leads activity related to new product development as it relates to lending programs. Ensures the Credit Union follows all lending and collections policies and regulations. Make changes as necessary.

Strategically manages all areas of Credit Union’s loan portfolio. Conduct analysis and bring strategic recommendations to the CEO.

Monitors competitor rates and fees and stays up to date on developments and issues affecting Credit Union lending products and services. Maintains extensive knowledge of consumer, commercial, real estate, mortgage lending, and collections practices.

Examines, evaluates, authorizes, and/or recommends approval of member applications for commercial loans and lines of credit. Reviews periodically for required updated financial information and field visits.

Be an active contributor to Credit Union’s strategic planning process. Execute Assigned Strategies with acceptable results. Meet or exceed goals in strategic score card.

Effectively oversee all collection activities. Ensure Credit Union meets or exceeds delinquency and charge-off goals while maintaining a positive work environment.

Provide direction and recommendations to management, based on current data, regarding the Credit Unions financial position and direction. Keep management informed of key operational issues affecting the Credit Union.

Review all activities for compliance with established policies, procedures and regulations. Regulations include but are not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering/Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations.

Participate in annual training as required by the BSA/OFAC Compliance Office.

Requirements:


A bachelor's degree, or achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Five to ten years of similar or related experience with a strong knowledge of consumer, mortgage, and business lending.

Motivating or influencing others is a material part of the job.

Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

The ability to establish a significant level of trust or diplomacy.

Thorough knowledge of Credit Union practices, policies, procedures, operations, products, services, and regulations. May also include specialized knowledge in lending or collections.

Specific knowledge of the philosophy and structure of the Credit Union industry. Thorough knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

Considers the relative costs, benefits of potential actions, and chooses the appropriate one.
