 📌 Unit Information – Pediatric Acute

• Unit Type: Pediatrics (shared with Pediatric Hem/Onc)
• Total Beds: 32 (22 Peds Acute + 10 Peds Hem/Onc – flexible based on census)
• Ratios: 1:4
• Support Staff:
  • Charge RN 24/7
  • Pediatric Crisis RN 24/7
  • Admin Supervisor 24/7
  • PCTs (1:8–10)
  • Monitor Tech (watches Peds & PICU monitors)
• Coverage:
  • Pediatric Hospitalist in-house until ~midnight
  • 24/7 resident coverage

🧑‍⚕️ Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• PALS (AHA)

📋 Patient Types / Common Diagnoses

• General med/surg pediatrics
• Hyperbilirubinemia
• Ortho
• Diabetes
• Neuro
• Cystic Fibrosis
• Failure to Thrive
• COVID
• Respiratory patients (heated high flow, BiPAP—RNs troubleshoot only)

🗓 Scheduling / Requirements

• Shift Times: 0700–1930 or 1900–0730
• Weekend: Every other weekend (Nights: Fri/Sat)
• Holidays: Required unless pre-approved in interview
• Call Requirement: None at this time
• Floating:
  • Within children’s hospital (Peds units)
  • Mom/Baby (baby assignment only)
  • No ICUs unless experienced; no chemo patients

👕 Dress Code

• Pediatric-appropriate scrub tops (any color/pattern)
• Solid-color scrub pants
• Undershirts or jackets allowed (solid color)
