Sylvan is currently hiring for a Teacher Coordinator, with hours ranging from 20 to 35 hours per week, at our Lake Zurich/Barrington, IL and Schaumburg locations!

We are seeking a certified teacher for an in-person role, which includes Teaching and Teacher Coordinator responsibilities, for students K-12.

Teacher Requirements:

• Education/Teaching Degree completed, or in process
• 2 years teaching or tutoring experience preferred
• Great opportunity for newly degreed teachers, teachers who have been subbing in recent years, or teachers who have taken time away from the classroom 

Teacher Skills and Qualifications:

• Teach using Sylvan based programs
• Direct and motivate students during instruction
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task
• Reward students for successful work
• Evaluate and document student progress
• Communicate student needs to our Educational Team
• Summarize student progress for our Full-time team to meet with parents
• Develop rapport with students and establish a fun, engaging learning environment
• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and Sylvan
• Execute administrative tasks that support our educational mission

About Sylvan Learning Centers:

• We are the industry leaders in providing supplemental education to children in pre-K through 12th grade
• We provide individualized instruction in Comprehension, Reading, English, Writing, Math and Study Skills.
• We also offer Homework Support, ACT/SAT Test Prep, and STEM
• Given the pandemic, we are seeing growing needs for tutoring
• We teach 7 days per week
