Position: Summer Camp Counselor
Rate: Up to $25 per hour
Terms of Program: 8-week Summer Camp program, runs June through August 2025
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer and Head of School
Focused Staffing Group is seeking a Summer Camp Counselor for our partner school in Wilmington, Delaware.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age, have worked in a camp or daycare setting for a minimum of two summers, and have at least 60 credit hours of college courses at an accredited college or university
- First Aid & CPR certification must be obtained before the first-day camp commences
- Experience in problem-solving skills
- Experience in a leadership role
- Proven to be self-motivated, tenacious, and creative
- Detail oriented
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work
- Customer Service Oriented
- Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
- Tuberculin Test
- Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
- Experience working in an urban school environment required

Responsibilities
- Planning, coordinating, and overseeing the entire summer camp program as approved by the CFO and the Head of School
- Communicating with parents, guardians, and other camp staff during and after camp hours of operation
- Care, safety, protection, and supervision of all camp environments, staff, and participants which includes the planning, preparation, and organization of daily activities and site (set-up/clean-up) as well as all administrative duties of camp
- Effectively supervise, train, and coach all staff
- Plan and execute age-appropriate day camp programs and activities
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of day-to-day administration
- Effectively partner with the HR manager in hiring and training staff
- Knowledgeable of all camp safety, school, and state regulations
- Trains and communicates this information to all staff to ensure compliance
- Effectively marketing and enrolling camp programs; including online registrations and payments
- Effectively communicating all camp-related information with staff, community, and participant families promptly
- Responsible for keeping the School apprised of local, state, and federal Summer Camp-related legislation, policies and practices, compliance, and other related matters that could impact camp operations
