Job Title: Database Administrator – Project Lead
Work Location: Columbia, SC 29201
Work Type: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension)
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level database support and mentorship to the Child Care team on schema design, query optimization, and performance analysis.
- Design, develop, and maintain databases, stored procedures, and functions ensuring scalability, reliability, recoverability, and security.
- Serve as a liaison for SQL Server database integration, performance tuning, upgrade, replication, and migration strategies.
- Perform advanced SQL Server tuning, including waits/Query Store analysis, index and statistics optimization, SARGability fixes, and parallelism tuning.
- Monitor and maintain database systems for high availability, reliability, and proactive alerting.
- Collaborate with project management and Agile development teams to ensure alignment with business and technical goals.
- Troubleshoot and triage production issues to drive root cause identification and resolution.
- Document configurations, incidents, and resolution steps.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum processes for continuous integration, deployment, and operations.
- Perform database upgrades, patching, auditing, and routine maintenance.
- Support after-hours and weekend maintenance as required.
- Manage and prioritize multiple database initiatives simultaneously.

- Database Planning, Scaling & Capacity Planning – Expert (2–4 Years)
- ETL Processes – Advanced (2–4 Years)
- PowerShell Scripting – Intermediate (1–2 Years)
- RedGate Toolset – Intermediate (1–2 Years)
- SDLC Understanding – Intermediate (1–2 Years)
- Verbal & Written Communication – Intermediate (2–4 Years)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Cloud SQL platforms (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, etc.)
- Automation and scripting using PowerShell
- Expertise in database planning, capacity scaling, and proactive resource management
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (required)
