Senior Winemaker Location Romulus, NY : Swedish Hill Winery, in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, is seeking a Senior Winemaker to join our team. Swedish Hill has long been recognized as one of the region's premier wine producers. The product line, which includes wines for Swedish Hill, Goose Watch and Penguin Bay Wineries is diverse, including premium Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Noir, Lemberger, Zweigelt and red Bordeaux varieties, as well as several Hybrid and Native varieties. Products also include sparkling and fortified wines. Although we produce a large number of products, we have high quality fruit sources, state of the art equipment and key personnel to consistently produce some of the region's top wines (including 3 Governor's Cups). We have one of the region's best equipped production facilities, as well as excellent cellar staff and QC personnel. This is an outstanding opportunity in a dynamic wine region. Desired Qualifications: · Bachelor's degree in Enology, Fermentation Science or related field · Minimum 5 years winemaking experience · Understanding of major winemaking, laboratory and production procedures · Possess well developed sensory skills with the ability to develop and evaluate fermentation options and finished blends · Wine processing equipment operation experience · Familiarity with a range of winemaking styles and varieties · Effective written and verbal communicator · Collaborate with vineyard team to ensure optimal fruit quality · Work with management to create content for marketing · PC based computer skills · Experience in compliance and tax reporting · Manage inventory of winemaking supplies · Strong organizational and leadership skills, and be able to effectively lead a cellar team · Ability to work flexible hours when required · Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time Job Type: Full-time Pay: $58,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year Benefits: ~401(k) ~401(k) matching ~ Employee discount ~ Health insurance ~ Paid time off Schedule: ~ Day shift Work Location: In person
