Macdonald & Company are working with a privately held real estate investment and development firm with a growing portfolio of industrial, multifamily, and mixed-use assets across the Southeast. Known for their collaborative, entrepreneurial culture and long-term investment approach, they are seeking a Property Accountant in Atlanta to support the full-cycle accounting of multiple assets. Reporting to the Controller, this role will work closely with asset management, development, and operations teams to deliver accurate financial reporting and support the firm’s continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of properties
• Maintain general ledgers, journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Track and process accounts payable and receivable related to each asset
• Support the annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting process
• Ensure compliance with lender and investor reporting requirements
• Assist in cash flow analysis, capital tracking, and construction draws
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors as needed
• Work cross-functionally to support acquisitions, dispositions, and asset transitions

What We’re Looking For:

• 2–5 years of property accounting experience, ideally within a real estate investment or development environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles
• Experience working with Yardi, MRI, or similar property management software
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• A proactive mindset and a team-first attitude

Nice to Have:

• CPA or progress toward CPA designation
• Exposure to development projects or construction accounting
• Experience supporting private equity-backed real estate firms
