Position Summary We are hiring for a Plant Operator to work in our Operations department. This position reports to a Lead Plant Operator and is located in Manassas, VA. The Plant Operator performs all functions for safely operating a Renewable Natural Gas Facility. This position shares accountability for the day‑to‑day operations of the site. The goal is to maximize production and minimize downtime while maintaining the highest regard for safety, cleanliness, and environmental compliance. Duties and Responsibilities Operate, adjust, and repair equipment to maximize gas plant production in a safe and environmentally compliant manner. Maintain detailed records on production data, equipment operational hours, service schedules, and equipment outages. Check all operating equipment daily (flow meters, gas chromatographs, fluid levels, pressure and temperature readings, unusual noises) to correct conditions before failure occurs. Perform maintenance and repairs on operating equipment, including oil and filter changes and replacement or repair of valves, blowers, compressors, and other plant equipment. Participate in preventive maintenance outages and overhauls. Maintain a high level of cleanliness inside and around the plant. Prevent oil accumulation on unit skids, floors, and soil around the plant. Keep the plant yard and perimeter fence free of weeds and shrubs. Keep equipment and floors presentable. Keep all on‑site parts and supplies stocked and well organized. Maintain plant inventory. Respond to callouts in a timely manner. Identify and correct the cause of the callout; if the problem cannot be diagnosed, contact the area manager for assistance. Operate the plant with a clear focus on safety. Clean up spills immediately. Ensure all lighting systems are fully functional and that slip, trip, electrical, and mechanical hazards are promptly addressed. Affirm that all plant visitors, mechanics, and outside contractors follow safe work practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications And Skills High school diploma or GED equivalent. Skilled in recordkeeping and logging. General troubleshooting abilities. Excellent reading and writing skills. Computer skills (Microsoft Office). Good mechanical skills and basic electrical knowledge preferred. Self‑motivated and capable of working with little or no supervision. Working knowledge of pressure, vacuum, and flow. Experience with pumps, blowers, or air compressors. Gas reciprocating or screw compressor experience helpful. Valid driver’s license without restrictions. Work Hours and Arrangements Operators are scheduled 40–50 hours per week based on operational need, plant performance, and available staffing. Example shift patterns include 5‑8, 4‑10, and 2 on/2 off 12‑hour shifts. Operators must work occasional night shifts, weekends, and participate in rolling callout schedules that require 24/7 availability during a seven‑day period. Physical Requirements The position requires driving a motorized vehicle, operating an ATV, using hand tools, and typing. Moderate lifting (10–50 lbs) and occasional walking on irregular surfaces, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching are also required. The job requires the use of hands and arms to operate or examine gas meters, flow meters, hand tools, power tools, bridge and jib cranes, and diagnostic equipment. Job Type Full‑time. Pay range is $32.00–$35.00 hourly plus bonus for eligible positions.
