Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time Mortgage Underwriter with strong knowledge of industry guidelines and a proactive, detail-oriented approach to decision-making. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment and is certified with both DE (Direct Endorsement) and SAR/LAPP (Staff Appraisal Reviewer) credentials.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate mortgage loan files for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines
• Analyze credit reports, income documentation, assets, liabilities, and property appraisals
• Render clear, consistent underwriting decisions on conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loan products
• Communicate loan conditions and status updates to processors and loan officers
• Ensure all files meet current federal, state, and investor guidelines (FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, USDA)
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve issues and ensure timely closings

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience
• Active DE (Direct Endorsement) certification – required
• Active SAR/LAPP certification – required
• Strong working knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and USDA guidelines
• Proficient with Loan Origination Systems (LOS)
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management
