  SUMMARY:  

This is a Science Communication internship focused on writing for AIP’s Content Experience team. This intern will conduct research for and write 2-3 assignments pers week, including science highlight articles, press releases, and articles for AIP.org. This is a paid 12-week internship under the direction of AIP’s Content Experience Team. The position for 40 hours per week, M-F and is hybrid, but starts in person for the first 2 weeks.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:  

• Write and edit 2-3 assignments per week
• Research assigned topics, coordinate and conduct interviews with scientists and AIP staff
• Write two Scilight articles (highlights in science news) or press releases for AIP Publishing journal articles each week
• Write weekly articles about AIP programs for the website
• Collaborate with AIP’s Content Experience Team to provide support for projects and assignments. Includes editing, email distribution, and website updates
• 40 hours per week, M-F
• This role starts in-person the first two weeks, at our Maryland or DC location. This role is hybrid after week two, working in-person 2-3 days per week at our Maryland or DC location.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:  

• Recent graduates (within the past 6 months) and / or individuals pursuing Graduate degrees in the Physical Sciences or Science Communications.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – written and verbally
• Demonstrated interest in the sciences and science communication.
• Journalism and communications experience a plus.

COMPENSATION: $15 - $19

WORKING AT AIP:  

AIP embraces a flexible hybrid work environment to balance in-person collaborative work with remote work. The team works in a flexible, hybrid schedule and reports to our offices in College Park, Maryland and Washington, DC, as needed. Employees are required to reside in the DC Metro regions of Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC.
