Job Details Level Entry Job Location Geospace Technologies - Houston, TX Position Type Internship Education Level High School Travel Percentage None Job Shift Day Job Category Entry Level Description Function: Perform process improvements and optimization for new and existing manufacturing processes and machinery. Provide daily support of these processes on the manufacturing floor. Scope: Responsible for production and manufacturing support for processes and machinery with a focus on lean manufacturing concepts. Duties/Responsibilities: Study and analyze existing manufacturing processes for improvements in cycle times, increasing capacity and reducing manufacturing costs. Time studies and statistical analysis for direction for improvement of production methods based on lean manufacturing principles. Support new product manufacturing equipment and new product manufacturing plans. Interacts cross-functionally with all groups on functional issues related to manufacturing engineering and automation of machinery. Support new and existing machinery pertaining to vision, robotic, and automated systems. Other duties assigned by department manager. Qualifications Understanding of manufacturing process flow concepts and Takt/cycle times Data analysis skills Project management skills Some experience with Autocad or Solidworks Some experience with vision/robotics/control systems programming Professional: Skilled in Microsoft Office suite to prepare reports, procedures and presentations. Personal: Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment; focus on the critical path; exert positive influence on non-staff to gain support for process changes and automation projects (through personal enthusiasm, drive, communication, negotiation, training). Self-awareness (vision, communication style, motivation, personal and professional goals). Strong written/verbal communications skills, comfortable with speaking to groups. Education: Applicants should be working toward a Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial or other Engineering discipline focusing on manufacturing support. Working Conditions & Safety Concerns: Combination of office and manufacturing environments. General manufacturing safety practices will be followed when working in those areas.
