RF Engineer
Location: Walnut Creek, CA
Work Setup: Hybrid
Experience Required: 7-10 years
We are seeking an experienced RF Engineer to drive the design and optimization of our wireless in-building and macro network infrastructure. This RF Engineer role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge 4G/5G technologies while contributing to critical network performance improvements.
RF Engineer Responsibilities - Design and optimize wireless networks using advanced RF engineering tools including ATOLL, iBwave, and MapInfo for in-building DAS systems and macro network planning
- Create comprehensive site designs including RFDS documentation, plumbing diagrams, and propagation analysis for system planning and site acquisition
- Evaluate coverage and capacity requirements to resolve network performance issues and implement optimization solutions
- Lead in-building DAS system design using iBwave software while managing third-party vendors and reviewing design implementations
- Support network commissioning and activation including testing validation, performance acceptance, and KPI analysis using tools like xLPT
- Collaborate with real estate teams to streamline site acquisition, leasing processes, and zoning submissions while minimizing costs
- Conduct RFE analysis and reporting ensuring 100% compliance with mitigation standards and regulatory requirements including FAA/FCC filings
- Optimize antenna systems and positioning for planned frequencies across macro and small cell wireless network clusters
- Automate RF engineering processes and share best practices with cross-functional teams
RF Engineer Qualifications Required Skills: - 7-10 years of RF engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in 4G/5G network design and implementation
- Advanced proficiency with ATOLL, iBwave, Ericsson ENM, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong technical knowledge of LTE KPIs, antenna systems, signal propagation, path loss calculations, and MIMO technologies
- Experience with antenna design including hex/octo port panels, cross-pol arrays, gain calculations, and interference mitigation
- Understanding of network environments including urban, suburban, and rural macro sites, plus small cell and in-building commercial venues
Preferred Qualifications: - iBwave certification, Fuze, Roofmaster, SQL, Visio, Ericsson performance tools, Visual Basic experience
- RF Engineer background in sports venues, conference centers, and complex commercial buildings
RF Engineer Requirements - Self-motivated professional with strong attention to detail and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities for cross-functional collaboration
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality deliverables
- Goal-oriented approach with superior organizational capabilities
