Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Providing American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services within specialized educational settings, this role supports students with hearing impairments in elementary schools that are part of a cooperative serving multiple districts. The position offers two distinctive assignments focusing on full- and part-time engagement, designed to enhance communication and learning for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver ASL interpretation services for students in a self-contained DHH program, supporting various activities such as gym, art, music, therapy sessions, and classroom instruction.
• Collaborate closely with a dedicated team of interpreters and Deaf staff to ensure consistent and effective communication access.
• Provide one-on-one interpreting services for a preschool-aged student, adapting to the individuals educational and communication needs.
• Maintain compliance with educational standards and individual student plans within a collaborative special education cooperative environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Illinois ASL Educator Certification required.
• EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher, or registration with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID).
• Proven experience in interpreting for children in educational settings, particularly within self-contained or specialized programs.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment supporting diverse student needs.
• Flexibility to manage both full-time and part-time assignment schedules.

Locations and Schedule:

• First assignment at an elementary school in Villa Park, IL, full-time from 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. through May 20, 2026.
• Second assignment at an elementary school in Hinsdale, IL, part-time from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. through May 20, 2026.
