Sign Language Interpreters Needed for K-12 Schools in the Franklin Area Full-Time Contract

A school district in the Franklin area is seeking skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support middle and high school students in a general education setting. These contract positions require on-site work and will serve diverse student populations within K-12 schools. The role offers valuable hands-on experience interpreting in educational environments.

Location:

• Franklin area, TN (Two positions at middle schools, one position at a high school)

Employment Details:

• Contract role extending from ASAP through May 22, 2026
• Full-time hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities
• Support communication between deaf and hard of hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational settings
• Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to facilitate student learning and inclusion

Qualifications:

• Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials with an Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher
• Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred
• Ability to work onsite full-time throughout the contract duration
• Strong communication skills and cultural competency within the Deaf community

Compensation:

• Target pay range based on experience:
  • 0-2 years: $40-$43 per hour
  • 3-5 years: $43-$46 per hour
  • 6-9 years: $46-$49 per hour
  • 10+ years: $49-$52 per hour
