The Director of Information Systems Projects and Vendor Management (9978 – Technology Expert II) will oversee the planning and implementation of the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s (SFDPH) enterprise systems/applications strategy, ensuring alignment with the Department’s strategic priorities and long-term vision. The role guides analyst teams, manages vendor partnerships and contracts, and delivers measurable results that support the Department’s mission.
The Director oversees critical systems, including electronic health records (e.g., Epic, clinical and billing platforms), public health systems (e.g., disease surveillance, restaurant inspections), and business tools (e.g., HR/workforce and materials management), and collaborates with peers responsible for networks, infrastructure, hosting, endpoints/peripherals, and enterprise reporting and data management. Reporting to the Deputy CIO, this position directly supervises two Directors and more than 100 total staff. It requires in-person work at least 80% of the time.

The Director of Information Systems Projects and Vendor Management (9978 Technology Expert II) may perform other duties as assigned/required.
1. Education : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; AND
2. Experience : Six (6) years of managerial experience overseeing IT systems delivery and management, of which all must include supervising professionals.
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Additional qualifying experience as described above may substitute for the required degree on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of four (4) years. One year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter units.
One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week).
