Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead our financial operations and planning efforts. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of non-profit financial management , LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) compliance and reporting, and a strong foundation in accounting or finance . This individual will be responsible for overseeing all financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, grant compliance, and audit coordination to ensure fiscal integrity and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the organization’s financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including those specific to non-profit organizations and affordable housing programs .
- Manage and monitor LIHTC financial reporting and compliance , working closely with asset managers, lenders, investors, and government agencies.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Lead the annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
- Collaborate with program and development staff to prepare grant budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Supervise and mentor finance and accounting staff.
- Partner with leadership to support strategic planning, financial modeling, and decision-making.
- Lead efforts in financial sustainability, long-term planning, and risk management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required) ; CPA or MBA preferred .
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in financial management , with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Prior experience in a non-profit organization is required , ideally with exposure to government grants and restricted funds.
- Strong knowledge of LIHTC financing, compliance, and reporting is required.
- Demonstrated ability to lead budgeting and financial planning processes.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, MIP Fund Accounting, Yardi, etc.) and Excel.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
