Job Description

Company Overview

CivilGrid is a venture-backed SaaS construction tech company building the "Google Maps for the Underground." Come help us disrupt a $4.7T US industry segment that desperately needs innovation. This opportunity has tremendous upside as it scales.

CivilGrid aggregates public and proprietary utility, geotechnical, environmental, and jurisdictional data. The consolidated information is sold via our collaborative SaaS mapping platform to engineers and developers who need it to make early-stage decisions on real estate and infrastructure projects.

Real time data access reduces labor and project delays, accelerates decision making and reduces project risk. Collaborative features ensure faster information flow and decisioning inside and outside the organization and better project insight retention over time.

Position Description

We are seeking a high-performing, analytically-minded problem solver to join CivilGrid as a Data Engineer. • Create dashboards, reports, and data visualizations for internal stakeholders and leadership

  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, sales, and operations to solve high-priority business problems

  • Own projects end-to-end with minimal supervision—from scoping to execution to presentation

  • Identify process inefficiencies and build solutions that scale

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Engineering, CS, Econ, Physics, Math, etc.) from a top-tier university

  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL

  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis, visualization, and statistical methods

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to structure ambiguous problems

  • Outstanding communication skills—can translate technical findings into clear business recommendations

  • Self-starter mentality with high ownership and willingness to do whatever it takes

  • Comfort with fast-paced startup environment and ability to context-switch between projects

  • Experience with data engineering, ETL processes, or database management

  • Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or similar)

  • Familiarity with software engineering concepts such as git basic devops

Desired Qualifications:

  • Background in consulting, finance, tech, or high-growth startups

  • Experience with GIS, geospatial data, or construction/infrastructure industries

  • Internship or project experience demonstrating quantitative impact

What We Offer:

  • High-impact role with direct exposure to leadership and strategic decisions

  • Opportunity to build diverse skill set across analytics, engineering, and business operations

  • Company-sponsored health insurance

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Remote work flexibility with a dynamic team environment

  • Comprehensive benefits package and professional development opportunities

  • Accelerated career growth in a fast-scaling startup

Location:
