Hiring Model: (Full-time, 6-12 month contract with option to extend long term or convert to an FTE) Location: Hybrid – 2 days/week in-office (Tuesday/Thursday preferred) Schedule: Flexible; availability required for incident response Overview: We're looking for a Cybersecurity Analyst with 2–4 years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or similar environment. This role is perfect for someone passionate about incident response, eager to get hands-on with major deployments (like CrowdStrike), and interested in contributing to a growing, evolving security program. What You'll Do: Lead and support incident response efforts: triage alerts, coordinate remediation, and help build out response protocols Contribute to developing and maintaining incident response playbooks Deploy and operationalize CrowdStrike EDR (replacing older Sophos/SecureWorks stack) Monitor and analyze logs from EDR tools, firewalls (Cisco, transitioning to Fortinet), and other security infrastructure Engage with security peers across higher education institutions Collaborate with teams across IAM, SecOps, and Infrastructure Document tools, processes, and evolving architecture Work in a flexible, collaborative environment with room to explore other domains such as patch management, web app security, pentesting, and offensive security Contribute to roadmap planning and long-term cybersecurity maturity Your Experience: 2–4 years in a SOC or hands-on cybersecurity role Experience triaging incidents and conducting investigations Solid understanding of EDR tools, especially CrowdStrike or SentinelOne Familiarity with Cisco firewall technologies; bonus for Fortinet exposure Experience or interest in automation a plus (e.g., scripting, SOAR tools) Familiarity with a mix of legacy and modern security tooling Ability to work under pressure during active incidents Strong communication skills – articulate what you're doing and why it matters Nice-to-Haves: Certifications such as OCP, Security+, CySA+, or similar Exposure to patching, vulnerability management, offensive security Experience writing or refining playbooks and standard operating procedures Seniority level Seniority level Entry level Employment type Employment type Contract Job function Job function Information Technology Industries IT Services and IT Consulting Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at The Intersect Group by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “Cyber Security Analyst” roles.
