About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to serve as a visionary and dynamic technology leader. The CIO will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the Office of Information Technology, as well as to the university and other state agencies on all matters related to information technology. This role is pivotal in overseeing a complex IT ecosystem that supports world-class research, digital learning, and administrative efficiency. The successful candidate will lead the digital strategy, ensuring that cutting-edge technology solutions advance the teaching, research, and service missions of the institution. Key initiatives include the implementation of new systems, establishing an IT governance structure, advancing the cybersecurity program, and enhancing education and research IT support. Candidates for the CIO position at the company should be strategic, experienced, and purpose-driven leaders with a proven track record of leading high-performing teams and enhancing IT services within a complex academic environment. The role requires a deep understanding of higher education, particularly in the areas of research, teaching, and administration, and the ability to leverage technology to enhance learning, accelerate research, and streamline operations. The ideal CIO will be a collaborative partner, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building strong relationships with stakeholders across the institution. Essential qualifications include in-depth knowledge of current and emerging information technology, understanding of technologies relevant to higher education and research, and expertise in areas such as privacy, security, compliance, and contract management. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is also a key requirement.
