JewishAkron, a large Summit County non-profit organization that includes several distinct operating units, is looking for an experienced team member to fill the role of Bookeeper. The bookkeeper is a key member of the accounting team and is essential to monthly close and daily accounting functions. This position would be ideal for someone who wants an entry level position, or seasoned professional, that understands the application of fundamental accounting practices. This is a full-time, in-office, hands-on position with the opportunity for professional growth. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recording daily cash transactions, including remote capture deposits and recording it in system for multiple agencies.
  • Responsible for monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Crosstrain and assist with accounts payable, payroll, and purchasing.
  • Follow processes and procedures in accordance with company policy.
  • Respond professionally to emails and phone calls.
  • Collaborate with team on process improvements.
  • Conducts actions in a professional and unbiased manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate with a minimum of two years’ experience in accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Experience in multi-department or multi-company settings is a plus but is not required.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (MS Word, Excel & Outlook) and the use of other database/accounting packages.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and ability to apply them to daily tasks.
  • Ability to solve problems and to be able to multitask.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as a member of a strong team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to plan and organize and to set priorities to meet deadlines.
