We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and self-driven entry-level Additive Manufacturing (AM) Engineer in our AM department located in Poway, CA.

This position will support the growth of AM at GA-ASI, focusing on metal laser powder-bed fusion AM projects and manufacturing operations for flight-ready parts across various platforms and programs. It will also involve supporting other AM modalities such as FDM/FFF, SLS, DED, and tooling technologies. The role includes developing new applications, process improvements, equipment onboarding, maintenance, training, and production projects, with significant interaction across engineering, quality, and program teams.

The position offers an opportunity to be at the forefront of metals, polymer, tooling, and composites AM at GA-ASI, contributing to our Center of Excellence mission.

Responsibilities

1. Become SME on metal LPBF and other AM modalities, supporting related technologies.


2. Collaborate with manufacturing engineers on AM operations and application development.


3. Lead workflow development, qualification, and continuous improvement efforts.


4. Support manufacturing planning, equipment implementation, and safety.


5. Provide support to technicians and document processes.


6. Review engineering drawings and support design for AM.


7. Explore and evaluate new AM technologies and applications.


8. Work with design engineering on prototyping and first-article manufacturing.


9. Support supplier onboarding and relationships.


10. Participate in growth strategies and external collaborations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in engineering or related field; 2+ years manufacturing engineering experience, or equivalent.


• Experience with industrial AM technologies, especially metal LPBF, in a defense or aerospace environment preferred.


• Hands-on experience with AM workflows, post-processing, and safety procedures.


• Knowledge of design for AM and manufacturing processes.


• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.


• Proficiency with MS Office; experience with MRP or PLM systems is a plus.


• Ability to obtain security clearance and willingness to travel.

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $68,770 - $116,193
