This weekend we have another UFC on FOX 14 from Stockholm, Sweden where we will see a Light-Heavyweight title contention match. That isn’t going to be the topic of this post, however. This will be about the two fights that are just as important as the main event. We have Ryan Bader vs. Phil Davis in a Light-Heavyweight bout and in the co-main event Dan Henderson vs. Gegard Mousasi in a Middleweight bout.
In the Light-Heavyweight division, Ryan Bader vs. Phil Davis is going to be a tough one. That’s because these two men are looking to get a shot at the title and move on up the ranks. Bader is a former TUF season 8 champion who has been in the UFC for 7 years with a record of 18-4-0 and is on a 3-fight winning streak. He is looking to get another fight with champion Jon Jones who gave Bader his first loss and a shot at the title.
Phil Davis is looking to get his chance at a title shot along with keep his winning ways going with a record of 13-2-0(1). Davis is a tough fighter who keeps getting better after losing only 2 fights. Both these men have great wrestling skills and the question is who will be the dominant fighter ?
In the co-main Middleweight division event we have 5-time world champion, Dan Henderson, vs. 5-time world champion Gegard Mousasi. I know this sounds crazy but this is true, both of these men are 10 time champions and they are looking to get another chance at a title shot to become champions again. Henderson, who is a future hall of famer and one of the all time greats of the sport is still looking to show that despite being 44 years old, his time hasn’t passed. Henderson feels that with his record of 30-12-0 that going back to Middleweight is the best place for him to be.
Mousasi has an impressive record of 35-5-2 and has competed in the Light-Heavyweight and Middleweight divisions. He likes to fight in both divisions often but right now, Mousasi is focusing on the Middleweight division and working his way up to getting a title shot. Both these men are looking to get past their recent losses and move past them.
All four of these men have what it takes to become champions for the first time or one more time. These fights and more are all free on FOX 14 and I can’t wait to see who will be the winners and how they accomplish it.
What do you fans think of this card and who do you have for the win ?
