This past Friday night we had 3 major events which were awesome to watch. Legacy FC, BellatorMMA and Invicta FC were out in full force with title fights and great match ups. Let’s get into the results.
Legacy FC was in Houston, Texas where we had a main event that was for the vacant Legacy FC World Middleweight Championship between Larry Crowe vs. Leonardo Leite. This was a great fight because Leite is already the Legacy FC World Light-Heavyweight Champion and wanted a second belt to add onto his undefeated winning streak. Crowe was going for his first title and hoping to move up into another promotion. In the first round saw some great combos, take downs and a lot of heart from both men. However, it was Leite who had the better strikes with his combos and power that got him the TKO over Crowe. So Leite got his wish and earned his second title in Legacy FC.
BellatorMMA was in Uncasville, Connecticut and this was an amazing card! They had it all with the return of Paul Delay, King Mo, taking on Cheick Kongo. In the main event we had the BellatorMMA World Light-Heavyweight Championship on the line with Emanuel Newton defending his title against Liam McGeary. All these fights were outstanding and didn’t let down any fans at all.
In the co-main event we had King Mo Lawal vs. Cheick Kongo in a Heavyweight fight. Remember fight fans, Lawal is a Light-Heavyweight fighter so this was a bit different for him. These big men were going at it and looked great doing it, but it was Lawal with the UD for the win and he got to beat one of Rampage’s teammates.
In the main event we had defending champion Emanuel Newton taking on undefeated Liam McGeary in a match I would call WAR! There was no holding back for the title in this match. One man wanted to keep it, the other man wanted to win it. After 5 rounds of action it was a UD for the new BellatorMMA World Light-Heavyweight Champion, Liam McGeary. Both these men left their blood, sweat, and tears in that cage and have nothing to be shamed of at all. I would love to see a rematch between these two again sometime down the road.
Invicta FC took place in our in our backyard, Los Angeles, California. I was so happy to see all the women who were on this card, because we don’t get to see an all female card like this often. So, for me, this was great.
The co-main event had Alexa Grasso taking on Mizuki Inoue. These 2 ladies were all over the cage with action. There wasn’t a boring minute of fighting from them. In the end of it all it was Grasso who captured the win with a UD.
In the main event of the evening for the Invicta FC World Feather Championship we had defending champion Cristiane Justino taking on Charmaine Tweet. This was on of the fastest TKO’s I have seen in a long time and it was all about the champion who had combos and power that Tweet couldn’t answer whatsoever. After 46 seconds in the very first round, Justino won and successfully defended her Invicta FC championship. After the fight Justino made this statement, “I am going to get down to Bantamweight win the Invicta FC World Bantamweight Championship then go to the UFC and beat Ronda Rousey for her UFC Women’s World Bantamweight Championship.” I would love to see Justino make the weight for Bantamweight, but I don’t think she can cut the weight in order to accomplish that.
What do you think of all these fights ?
