Glory 19 Kickboxing on Spike TV Tonight

02-06-2015, by JP Scarano, Exclusively for TheFightWorld.Com

Glory 19 Kickboxing is on Spike TV tonight from Hampton, Virginia. Be prepared for some exciting action from the Welterweight Number One contender tournament and a rubber match between the current Glory World Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven and Errol Zimmerman. When I say these men don’t like each other I mean they really do hate each other. With this  being a fight for the belt I see some nasty fireworks happening. In addition to those fights, we have a top Middleweight fight in Joe Schilling vs. Robert Thomas.

This Welterweight tournament has me very excited because there are 4 men that have a lot to prove tonight. They all want to earn the title show against the current Glory World Welterweight Champion, Joseph Valtellini. However, no one wants to get to the champion more then former champion, Nieky Holzken. He didn’t fight at all in 2014 because of an injury and now Holzken is back and looking to get his belt back. Right now, Holzken isn’t looking past this tournament or his first fight against Aleksandr Stetcurenko who is a very tough fighter.

We also have Raymond Daniels with a notable martial arts background who keeps getting better in the ring. This has made Daniels a must-see fighter. In his first fight he is taking on Jonathan Oliveira. This is the type of tournament I love seeing in fighting. This is unlike MMA because in Kickboxing you can fight more then once in a night showing the fans who has the heart, desire, and conditioning to get the shot at the championship. Don’t forget that they will crown a tournament winner at the end and that winner will get a title shot soon.

In the co-main event of the evening we have a Middleweight fight that I don’t see going to the judges at all. This is the fight between Joe Schilling and Robert Thomas. Both of these men want this win so they can enter the next Middleweight tournament and get a shot at the belt. Schilling who fights in both Kickboxing and MMA is looking to keep his winning ways.  Schilling isn’t looking past Thomas at all and knows that this is going to be a tough fight for him. Thomas is also looking to keep up his winning ways. but against a dangerous man like Schilling, this is going to be a real test for him. As I said, these men don’t want to let this fight go to the judges.

The main event is a feud that has been going on for quite sometime. With this being a rubber match  for the Glory World Heavyweight Championship these men will have no love lost between them. And each has a win over the other fighter. This feud has been going on since 2012 when the challenger Errol Zimmerman knocked out  Rico Verhoeven,  but that wouldn’t be the last of it. A year later at Glory 9, Verhoeven got the UD and won the tournament as well as the Glory World Heavyweight Championship. At the weigh-ins last night these men were ready to go and  I mean really they got into each others faces. It was heated enough that security and the Glory president had to step between them so nothing premature took place. I am excited about this fight and I hope you fight fans are as well.

Who do you have winning the tournament and the championship ?
