This Friday May 15, 2015 BellatorMMA will have an action-packed card in Temecula, CA at the Pechanga Resort & Casino. The main event for the BellatorMMA World Middleweight Championship will be between defending champion Brandon Halsey and Kendall Grove. Let’s take a look at all the other fights before the main event.
The prelims will start off with a Bantamweight fight with newcomers Albert Morales vs. John Yoo. Both of these men are just starting off their MMA careers and are looking to make an impression on everyone. In another Bantamweight fight we have Shawn Bunch, 2-1-0, vs. Rolando Perez, 7-4-1. I see experience being the big factor in this fight. The women are up next in a Featherweight fight with Arlene Blencowe, 5-4-0, vs. Adrienna Jenkins, 18-5-0. This is going to be a hell of a fight for both of these ladies who are out to prove they belong here.
Back to the men in the Lightweight division this fight is between Ian Butler, 1-1-0, vs. Steve Kozola, 5-0-0. This is a tough one for me because I see Butler wanting to come back from a loss and Kozola wanting to keep his undefeated record going. Next up are the Middleweights with Ben Reiter 18-0-1 vs. Benji Radach 21-6-0, Reiter is a late replacement but is a tough fight for the returning vet Radach who hasn’t fought in 5 years. This is going to be one fight I can’t wait to see.
In a Welterweight fight Jesse Juarez, 22-9-0, vs. Ricky Rainey, 9-3-0. Both of these men are newcomers to BellatorMMA and are looking to make the best of this and work their way up to a title shot. The men’s Featherweights are up next with Julio Cesar Neves, 30-0-0, vs. Jordan Parsons, 10-1-0. Neves hast a great undefeated streak going like I haven’t seen before and this, being his first fight in BellatorMMA , they are already talking about what will happen if he win. However, lets not overlook Parsons who is a true MMA fighter with wins in all three ways.
The Bantamweights are up next with Joe Taimanglo, 21-6-0, vs. Antonio Duarte, 18-5-0. These men are coming off losses and are looking to get back on track and make their way to a title shot. In the last prelim fight of the night in the Light-Heavyweight division we have Virgil Zwicker, 12-4-1, vs. Razak Al-Hassan, 13-4-0. I have to say that this fight could be a co-main event or on the main card. These men are both very tough fighters who love to stand and band but I think it will come to who wants it more for this fight.
Now onto the fight card live on Spike TV. First up in the men’s Featherweight division Darrion Caldwell, 6-0-0, vs. Rafael Silva, 22-4-0. This is going to be a fast paced fight with both these men who are just looking to get close to a title shot. The Welterweights are up with Curtis Millender, 7-1-0, vs. Fernando Gonzalez, 23-12-0. When looking at these fighters you would think they should be on the prelims but in truth they shouldn’t be there at all. Both these men are very dangerous in all areas of MMA and I think they will prove it.
In the co-main event, Bantamweights are going to make this exciting for sure with former BellatorMMA World Bantamweight Champion Eduardo Dantas, 16-4-0, vs. Mike Richman 18-5-0. I bet you are wondering how this fight is a number one contender fight. I am wondering the same thing myself. I think this would be a great fight for the top spot. Dantas, who hasn’t fought since losing his title back in October, is looking to make it back to the top. Dantas has been working hard to get back to his old ways. He has a tough task at hand with taking on Richman who is on a two-fight winning streak and hopes that a win will get him one step closer to a title shot. I think this fight screams fight of the night to me.
Time for the main event of the evening for the BellatorMMA World Middleweight Championship. First up will be the challenger Kendall Grove with a record of 20-14-0. He is on a two fight winning streak and is looking to finally become a champion. If you don’t know who Grove is then you are living under a rock. He is the former TUF 3 Middleweight Champion and UFC Vet who is entertaining and brings a great personality toll his fights and promos. Since being released by the UFC, Grove has been working his way to becoming a better fighter and gaining more experience. If he wins I could see more challenges coming to him soon.
Now onto the champion Brandon Halsey who is an undefeated champion and making his first title defense since winning the belt back in September of 2014. Everyone is always counting the new champion out before the fight begins and I don’t know why people do that. Yes, Grove has the more experience then Halsey but look at what Halsey did to the former champion Alexander Shlemenko by taking the fight to the ground and submitting Shlemenko in the first round. Halsey is looking to be one of the best in the fight world. We will see submission and combos from both these men and, for me, I say this will go 5 rounds.
What do you fans think of this card and who do you have winning ?
